Catherine Young

My role as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Movement Disorders is to provide support, information and advice for people diagnosed with Parkinsonism and related conditions. I am also involved in the care of people with Parkinson’s who have had neurosurgery (Deep Brain Stimulation) and other advanced interventions for the treatment of their symptoms. I see patients from diagnosis right through their journey with Parkinsonism providing advice about their symptoms and the medications used to alleviate the symptoms whilst monitoring symptom progression. I have weekly nurse led clinics in Ninewells Hospital, visit people in their own home or nursing home due to disability and provide telephone advice and support.  I also support patients during an admission to hospital and provide education and information for the nursing and medical staff involved in their care.
